Professionals in the sludge and chemical solid-liquid separation industries know that the slider at the filter cloth roller is a highly consumable component during the continuous operation of a filter press. In the past, many plants used metal or ordinary nylon sliders, which often led to various operational headaches. Metal parts are prone to rusting when exposed to acidic and alkaline sludge over time; this creates burrs on the surface that can easily scratch and tear the filter cloth. Meanwhile, ordinary nylon lacks sufficient wear resistance, leading to rapid wear and deformation. This results in frequent machine downtime for part replacements, directly delaying overall production schedules.

Today, to better meet equipment requirements, many factories are turning to UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) sheets to machine these sliders. They are custom-milled using CNC technology to perfectly fit the installation structure of the filter cloth roller, with integrated mounting holes and guide grooves that precisely match the equipment's slide rails.

The UHMWPE material itself features excellent self-lubricating properties. This ensures low resistance and smooth, quiet operation as the rollers slide back and forth, eliminating the need for frequent oiling and greatly simplifying daily equipment maintenance. For complex working conditions like sludge treatment and chemical wastewater, UHMWPE's outstanding acid, alkali, and corrosion resistance is particularly valuable. Even when submerged in corrosive wastewater and sludge for extended periods, the material will not swell, crack, or degrade. Furthermore, its wear resistance far exceeds that of ordinary plastics and carbon steel, ensuring low wear even after long-term friction. Combined with its high impact toughness, the material is highly resistant to cracking or deformation under heavy loads.

Though it may seem like a minor machined part, this small component can tangibly reduce equipment downtime and lower the consumption of spare parts. Many continuously operating filter press units have seen a significant extension in their stable operation cycles after switching to UHMWPE machined sliders.
