In ports, docks, and shipping, collision protection is crucial for ensuring facility safety and smooth operations. UHMWPE fenders, with their superior performance, have become the core choice to replace traditional metal and rubber fenders, building a solid safety barrier for marine engineering.
UHMWPE fenders are made from polyethylene resin with a molecular weight of 3-5 million, processed through professional molding and extrusion processes. The special structure of the molecular chain gives them strength and toughness far exceeding that of ordinary plastics. They possess high wear resistance, 6-7 times that of carbon steel, effectively resisting frictional losses during ship berthing. They also exhibit outstanding impact resistance, remaining non-brittle even at -80℃, effectively absorbing collision energy and preventing damage to the hull and dock.
UHMWPE fenders feature low friction and self-lubrication, with a friction coefficient of only 0.07-0.11. This results in low resistance during ship berthing, protecting the hull paint and reducing berthing wear. Meanwhile, it is resistant to seawater salt spray and acid/alkali corrosion, with a water absorption rate of less than 0.01%. It does not swell or degrade even after long-term immersion, and with the addition of UV stabilizers, its outdoor service life can reach over 10 years, requiring no complex maintenance.
As a lightweight material, its density is only 1/7 that of steel, making installation and handling convenient. UHMWPE fenders can be customized in size and color according to specific scenarios, and are widely used in coastal and inland river ports, ship hulls, offshore wind power platforms, and other applications. Compared to traditional materials, it balances protective effectiveness with economy, significantly reducing replacement and maintenance costs, meeting the needs of green port construction, and becoming an ideal choice in the modern maritime protection field.
