In the daily operation and maintenance of powder and granular material conveying, scraper wear, trough scratching, and material sticking to the walls have always been common headaches for plant equipment management. Many facilities frequently replace steel or rubber scrapers, which not only increases the cost of spare parts but also disrupts continuous production due to repeated downtime. Now, UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) scrapers are becoming a highly effective solution to improve these operational pain points.
By installing white UHMWPE scrapers inside the scraper conveyor, the equipment runs with significantly lower friction resistance compared to traditional metal scrapers. When conveying grain and feed powders like wheat, corn, and soybean meal, moist and fine materials will not stick to the scraper surface. This prevents the formation of lumps and significantly reduces the frequency of manual trough cleaning.
Compared to steel scrapers, UHMWPE is highly flexible. It will not scratch or damage the steel trough during operation, thereby preventing long-term wear, deformation, and material leakage of the trough walls. UHMWPE scrapers perfectly balance toughness and wear resistance, offering a service life several times longer than standard steel scrapers. They are also highly resistant to impact and deformation from large material chunks, making them suitable for various conveying scenarios, including power plant coal powder, building material mineral powder, and grain/feed processing.
Since scraper conveyor sizes and mounting hole positions vary across different facilities, UHMWPE sheets can be custom-cut and drilled to fit any specific machine model. For conveying equipment that operates 24/7, switching to UHMWPE scrapers reduces both the replacement frequency of parts and the maintenance costs of the trough. It effectively eases the burden of workshop equipment management, making it a highly practical choice for plants looking to optimize their conveying equipment components.
