Customized Boron-Containing Polyethylene Panels Deliver Reliable Shielding Performance to Support Radiation Safety Engineering
Time : Aug 04, 2026

Recently, our factory completed processing and delivery of a batch of modular boron-containing polyethylene panels. Manufactured by compression molding with boron carbide powder blended into ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) substrate, these panels can undergo precision machining including hole drilling, grooving and reserved observation windows to fit various radiation shielding scenarios.

Boron-containing polyethylene panels slow down fast neutrons via hydrogen atoms within the material and effectively absorb thermal neutrons through boron elements, featuring low secondary radiation and stable shielding performance. Compared with conventional shielding materials, they have moderate weight, outstanding corrosion resistance and great toughness. In addition, modular assembly is available. The machined boron-containing polyethylene panel components equipped with observation windows and lifting holes shown in the picture enable rapid construction of shielding barriers.

Boron-containing polyethylene panels are widely used in neutron physics laboratories, BNCT treatment rooms and shielding areas for nuclear detection equipment. Shielding cabins can be constructed with neutron shielding components made of boron-containing polyethylene panels for neutron beam channels of scientific research platforms and shielding walls of medical BNCT rooms.

With mature processing technology, our factory can customize boron-containing polyethylene panels with different boron contents, sizes and shapes to meet differentiated radiation protection demands in scientific research, medical treatment, industrial flaw detection and other fields, offering reliable solutions for neutron radiation shielding.
