Application of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene lining in mine bins and hoppers
Time : 16/04/2026

In mining production, mining bins and hoppers, as core equipment for material storage and transfer, are constantly subjected to scouring, abrasion, and adhesion blockage by ore and powder. This not only affects production efficiency but also increases equipment maintenance costs and can even pose safety hazards. UHMWPE liners, with their superior comprehensive performance, have become an ideal solution to the pain points of mining bins and hoppers, and are widely used in various mining scenarios, contributing to efficient and stable production operation.

The core pain points of mining bins and hoppers are material blockage and wear. Traditional metal liners have rough surfaces and strong adhesion, easily causing wet ore powder and lumpy ore to stick to the walls and arch, resulting in blockages several times a month. This requires a large amount of manpower for cleaning, and the wear is severe, requiring frequent replacement. UHMWPE liners have smooth surfaces with a low coefficient of friction of 0.05~0.11. They are non-absorbent and non-sticky, effectively preventing material bridging and blockage, reducing the frequency of blockages by more than 90%, and effectively solving the safety hazards and efficiency losses associated with manual cleaning.

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene lining

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) liners exhibit excellent wear resistance, with a wear life 6-7 times that of carbon steel. They can withstand high-frequency erosion from ore, significantly reducing wear on the inner walls of ore bins and hoppers, and extending equipment lifespan. Simultaneously, UHMWPE liners possess good toughness, resisting impact from falling materials and resisting cracking at low temperatures. They are suitable for the complex high and low temperature conditions of mines, and are corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and easy to install. Installation can be completed without modifying the existing equipment structure; simply use countersunk bolts for fixing, significantly reducing construction difficulty and equipment load.
