Underground coal mines present a closed environment with easy dust accumulation and complex working conditions such as coal flow scouring and material impact, placing high demands on the safety and durability of materials. HMWPE flame-retardant boards, as a specially modified new engineering material, have become a core protective material for safe operations in underground coal mines due to their comprehensive advantages of flame retardancy, antistatic properties, and wear and corrosion resistance, effectively solving the application pain points of traditional materials.
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) flame-retardant boards use ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene as the base material, modified by adding halogen-free flame retardants and conductive carbon black. They strictly meet the "dual-resistance" standards for underground coal mines, achieving a flame retardant rating of UL94 V-0. They self-extinguish within 10 seconds of being removed from the flame without dripping, and their surface resistance is controlled at 10⁶~10⁸Ω, quickly dissipating static electricity and eliminating the safety hazard of electrostatic discharge ignition.
In practical underground applications, high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UPE) flame-retardant boards are suitable for multiple key scenarios: In coal bunkers and buffer silos, their self-lubricating properties prevent coal from sticking and clogging, reducing manual cleaning costs; in chutes and hoppers, their superior wear resistance withstands coal gangue erosion, extending their service life by 3-5 times that of ordinary steel plates.
Furthermore, UPE flame-retardant boards exhibit excellent acid and alkali resistance and moisture resistance, adapting to the high-humidity and corrosive environment of underground mining. They weigh only 1/7 of steel, significantly reducing construction labor intensity. Their application not only strengthens underground safety but also reduces equipment maintenance frequency and downtime, providing reliable support for coal mining enterprises to achieve safe, efficient, and low-cost production.
